October 12, 2007- Z-Ty Racing calls it a year. With the circumstances with Dixie Speedway and the season that we have had, we have decided to call it a year and start preparations for the 2008 race season. The 2007 season has been unbelievable. We have accomplished many goals this season.

First and foremost we won our second consecutive championship. This was a huge accomplishment considering the constant work and luck that goes into this feat.

The second goal accomplished was to win more races than we won in 2006. We did this in the first two months of the season alone; compiling seven wins before the close of the season.

Our third goal accomplished was to sign some long term sponsors that we can consider part of our team for the future. This was accomplished by signing on Ellison Manufacturing Co., ALBA Consulting Services and Speedsters Inc.. Without these and other great sponsors we would not have had the opportunity to set the goals, much less accomplish them.

The season stats ended very impressively. In 21 races we compiled 7 wins, 5 seconds, 3 thirds, 4 fourths and 2 sevenths. These finishes account for the entire 21 races, meaning we had ZERO DNF’s. This is absolutely unbelievable to have this kind of luck for an entire 21 race season.

I would like to thank all of the family, friends, sponsors, team and fans for their contribution to making this the GREAT season that it was and we will do our best to top it in 2008!!!

Thanks again!!! Chris Sizemore

September 24, 2007- Sizemore and Taylor have a good showing at Green Valley. Chris Sizemore started 12th and Kenny Taylor started 10th in a twelve car field Saturday night in their first race at the Alabama track. It didn’t take long for the tandem to figure out what it takes to get around the 3/8 mile circle (can’t quite consider it an oval). They charged from the back to run 3rd and 4th behind Michael Jones and David Beam. This victory was Michael’s 19th in 21 races at GVS.

“Kenny and I had a blast tonight. This was probably the most fun I have had all year.” Sizemore said. “When we first got here tonight I looked at the track and wasn’t sure exactly how we would get around it because it is so much different than anywhere I have raced before but after a couple laps we were rolling on pretty good. I think that everyone did a good job making the rules to where we can be competitive. We may still be down a little, but we are close.”

“I would also like to compliment everyone at GVS for the spectacular job that you do. The facility is unbelievable from the track surface to the bathrooms. Everything is immaculate.” Sizemore said. “We will be back, probably this week!”

September 20, 2007- The 20 and the 5 are heading to Alabama to compete this Saturday night. Chris Sizemore and Kenny Taylor are traveling to Green Valley Speedway this Saturday night to represent Dixie Speedway. The top two finishers in Dixie points will go against the best that GVS has to offer in Michael Jones, who has won 17 of 19 events this year at Green Valley.

“Neither Kenny or I have raced at Green Valley before, so I am not sure how competitive we will be.” Sizemore said. “They have tried to modify the rules to allow us to come to their track to compete, but it still seems that we are going there at a disadvantage. We are going with a smaller carb, narrower wheels, heavier clutch and we have to add 175 pounds. We are allowed more inside the motor than they are. Hopefully they know better than us and we can be very competitive. We’ll see on Saturday.”

Gates open at 4 and hot laps start at 7 CST. For more information, visit www.greenvalleyspeedway.com .

September 19, 2007- Customer appreciation cookout and car sale Saturday at Jim’s Auto Sales. Jim’s Auto Sales, Inc.  in Marietta will host a customer appreciation cookout and car sale on Saturday, September 22 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.. They will serve hamburgers, hot dogs, with music and the #20 - 2006/2007 Dixie Speedway Super Bomber Track Champion race car. Come out and enjoy the party!

September 17, 2007- Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Al. is an option for fans and racers not ready for the season to be over. Many race teams from Dixie Speedway, with the help from GVS accomadating Dixie rules, have decided to continue the race season by traveling to Alabama to compete. For more information and directions to the race track, please visit www.greenvalleyspeedway.com .

NEVER FORGET

dixie salute troops postponed.PNG

September 10, 2007- Z-Ty Racing to do their part to remember 9/11 and honor our troops. This Saturday, September 15 we will have a special program in coordination with Dixie Speedway to honor our troops fighting around the world to defend our freedom. Ken Hunt will be presenting Dixie Speedway with a flag signed by his nephew and their Marine Combat Air Delivery Unit.

The #20 car, driven by Chris Sizemore, will run a special “paint scheme” for this event honoring all of our soldiers as well as all of the police, firefighters, emergency response personnel and others that we depend on every day to keep us safe and come to our aid.

“I am absolutely honored to have the opportunity to lead a special event like this to honor our true heroes.” Sizemore said. “Some look at racers as heroes, but we are not. True heroes are the ones putting their life on the line every day to defend our freedom and keep us safe. This event also gives us the opportunity to reflect on what happened on 9/11 six years ago and how everyone pulled together as one. We need to do this all of the time, not just in the face of tragedy.”

September 8, 2007- Sizemore rolls to win number seven with KT charging to second. Sizemore came from fifth starting position Saturday night to take the early lead from Lee McElwayne coming off of turn two and proceeded to pull away from the field as KT charged from the back of the 18 car field to finish a strong second.

This makes the 3rd race in a row that the motors of Thomas Bishop have run 1-2 at Dixie Speedway. Great job by the motor shop of Advanced Power Systems!!!

11-8-07web.jpg

September 3, 2007- Kenny Taylor makes it two in a row at Dixie Speedway. For the second week in a row KT started on the front row and led the entire 15 lap feature for the victory. Sizemore started the race in the tenth position and charged to the front to move into second by lap 10 but could not do anything with the 5 car over the final five laps and had to settle for the runner up position.

Tony McDowell shows everyone how it is done in the wreck fest at Rome Speedway. Tony McDowell worked hard to dodge the wrecks and get to the front in the 15 lap feature, passing for the lead on the high side of Harold Patterson midway through the race. Kenny Taylor made a charge from the back but bobbled on the final lap and had to settle for third behind Lee McElwayne. Chris Sizemore rounded out the top four.

August 26, 2007- KT takes checkers for second time of the year over Sizemore. The way the field took the green told the story of how the battle was going to go this Saturday night. Kenny Taylor in the 5 started outside pole with Chris Sizemore in the 20 right behind him. As the green flew, so did the outside lane. KT and Sizemore pulled out to the lead of the pack, Sizemore challenging the 5 for the lead through every corner but Kenny was able to hold the perfect line to defend the 20’s advance. Taylor lead all 15 laps of the feature for the win with Sizemore finishing second and Joey Kendall in third.

“KT is a really good friend of mine and I am proud to see him win. I hate having to settle for second but if I am going to run second, I want KT to get the win.” Sizemore said. “With the way the two of us are running this year, it seems that Thomas Bishop’s phone would be going crazy. Thomas builds an awesome motor for me and KT to run 1-2 so many times this year.”

kt 8-25 win.jpg

August 19, 2007- McConnell leads the race flag to flag for the checkered, Sizemore clinches the 2007 Championship. Randy McConnell started Saturday night’s race on the outside of the front row and jumped out front for the early lead. Kenny Taylor charged hard from his sixth place starting spot to move into second within the first couple laps but could not quite run down the dominant M1 on this night. Sizemore started toward the back of the pack and made his way through the traffic in the 15 lap caution free race to finish in fourth position. The top five finish clinched the 2007 Super Bomber Championship, Sizemore’s second straight track championship, with three points races remaining.

“This has been a unbelievable season on the race track. The championship was our primary goal and we are close to achieving other goals we set. But even know you set the lofty goals, sometimes it is still hard to believe when you reach them.” Sizemore said. “I am not sure what we are going to do next year, but if it doesn’t work out moving up to Limited…we will come back and go for three straight.”

August 4, 2007- Sizemore gets back to early season form with dominant win Saturday night. It had been four races since the 20 car visited victory lane but a good draw and a little luck made the trip back a little easier. Sizemore started in the fourth position behind Tony Beck, Ben Hill and Tony McDowell and didn’t take much time going to the front as Hill and Beck got together on the first lap allowing Sizemore to squeeze to the outside and move into second behind McDowell. On lap two, McDowell pulled it to the bottom through 3 and 4 and Sizemore stuck it on the high side and motored around Tony to take the lead. The race for the lead was over at that point as Sizemore extended his lead over the next 13 laps to take the victory over second place Kenny Taylor and third place Tom Cleghorn.

“We had an awesome car tonight. The track was dry but our car handles great in conditions like this.” Sizemore said. “It feels good to get back to victory lane. Hopefully we can get here a few more times before the end of the season.”

July 21, 2007- Wild and destructive night of racing ends with Sizemore increasing his points lead. Everyone must have been a little rusty after last weeks rain out because cars started getting wrecked before they could make it through turns one and two on the first lap.

Sizemore started inside row five but was caught up in someone else’s mess on lap two, damaging the front of the car and putting him to the back of the field. After a pit stop to check the damage, Sizemore joined the field for the restart in fourteenth position. Cautiously, the 20 car picked his way back through the field as rough racing was taking out many of the competitors. With three laps remaining, Sizemore had made it into fourth position, taking the third position from Tom Cleghorn on the final lap as the 119 slowed.

“This was an absolutely crazy night of racing, people were driving completely out of control. Maybe everyone can get back to clean racing next week and we won’t have to keep fixing damaged race cars every week. These cars are too expensive to drive the way the field was tonight.” Sizemore said. “We got lucky and still had a good point’s night though.”

Joey Kendall won the race on a special night for him, as he raced in dedication to his brother that he lost this week. Joey, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this tough time.

July 15, 2007- Mother nature fails to cooperate with racing plans. Saturday nights events were canceled shortly after the 1ST Leg Points Awards presentation due to rain.

0001 leg.jpg

July 9, 2007- Taylor holds off Sizemore for first win of the season. Kenny Taylor started on the pole and lead flag to flag for the victory Saturday night for his first win of the season. Chris Sizemore started outside second row and charged to the front to start his challenge on the 5 car on the first lap. Sizemore was able to pull up on KT’s quarter panel lap after lap but was unable to gain enough ground to take the position.

“That has to be the best race I have ever seen KT drive. He did an unbelievable job behind the wheel. The only mistake that he made the entire 15 laps was enough for me to get up next to him but wasn’t big enough for me to take the lead. I am very excited about the way it turned out…KT earned that one.” Sizemore said.

Z-Ty Racing would also like to compliment Dixie Speedway for the excellent job they did preparing the track for last weeks events. This was the best surface we have had to race on all season. Keep up the good work!!!

kt win 7-7.jpg

July3, 2007- The Super Bomber race Saturday night replaced with Mud Slide. The race from this weekend is barely worth mentioning. The "race" track was absolute junk. The Super Bomber race, featuring $25000 machines pushing 500 HP, was reduced to a high speed track packing session that could have been won by a 4 cylinder Honda with 80 HP... No offense to Cleggie.

Hopefully next week will not be as disappointing for the fans and racers that wait all week for Saturday night.

web2007 4th at Dixie.JPG

June 25, 2007- Streak stops at four despite a hard charge from the back. The possibility of extending the winning streak to five in a row looked bleak from the outset as two fast cars were starting on the front row, with Johnny Morrison on pole, Randy McConnell on outside pole and Sizemore starting on the last row in ninth position. Through the first few laps positions were hard to gain as the field was bunched two wide and the 20 car was blocked in. On lap six, Cleghorn began to show Sizemore the nose on the outside and Chris started to pick up the pace.

“I really didn’t know how good the car was until Tom started to go on the outside of me. When I saw his nose, I started pushing the car a lot harder and it stuck. The car was really good, and I started making up a lot of ground at that point.” Sizemore said.

About lap eleven, Sizemore was able to get a run on Guy Adams off of two and clear him and the 17 of Roy Patterson before entering turn three for the fourth position. Over the next few laps, Sizemore was able to reel in third position and began to work on Randy Tatum. As the laps wound down the battle for the lead continued between John Morrison and Randy McConnell, McConnell stifling every attempt and maintaining the lead. McConnell was able to hold off the constant pressure of Morrison for the victory in the 15 lap caution free event as Morrison came in second and Chris Sizemore was able to edge out Randy Tatum coming off turn four on the final lap for third.

“The car handled better tonight than anything I have ever driven. We keep getting a little better every week. If we could have gotten one caution tonight, I think we could have got up there and battled a little with McConnell. We may not have had enough for him but it would have been fun…I had fun anyway battling through the field. It was a great night for us. We’ll try to start another streak next week.” Sizemore said.

randy win 6-23.jpg

June 22, 2007- Team friend, Donnie Price, scores first career win at North Georgia Speedway Friday night. Donnie led flag to flag for the victory over a rowdy charge from Ted Montgomery. Montgomery tried everything he could, short of turning the 00, to take over the top spot...to no avail.

Congratulations Donnie and the Twisted Metal Team, it was a well deserved victory!!!

donnie price win.jpg

June 16, 2007- A little luck pushes the Z-Ty Racing Team to four straight and five out of six at Dixie. The outlook on the night didn’t look good for the 20 team to extend its winning streak to four straight as many fast cars started towards the front of the field and Sizemore started marred towards the back of the pack in ninth. It didn’t take long for Kenny Taylor to jump past the 119 of Chuck Jones to take the lead on lap one but Randy McConnell started pressing for the lead from his fourth starting position on lap two. As McConnell sized up the leader and drove past him on lap three the caution fell sending him back to the second position. When the green flew again, the M1’s luck went bad as his motor expired down the back straight-away, covering the track with oil. Following this extended caution, to dry the oil, was yet another caution taking out three more cars; including Chuck Jones, Joey Kendall and James Watkins. This caution was followed by yet another caution involving Roy Patterson, Tony McDowell, Howard Martin and Carmen Vineyard. At this time, Sizemore had followed Tom Cleghorn through the field to second and third position, dodging the chaos that decimated the 14 car field. Before the remaining competitors could take the green again on lap seven, Kenny Taylor broke a pinion gear causing him to drop from the lead and the competition. When the green finally fell for the final time for the green – white – checkered finish, Cleghorn pulled three car links on Sizemore and held this lead when he took the white flag. But Sizemore changed his line on the final lap, moving to the topside to try to make something happen. As Cleghorn bobbled through one and two, Sizemore was able to pull up on his bumper down the back stretch. Again, Sizemore ran it off on the high side entering three as Tom dove to the bottom. Once again, Cleghorn bobbled a little and it was a drag race to the checkers, as Sizemore edged out Cleggy by a nose.

“This was a really sweet win tonight. I don’t believe I have ever been so excited in a racecar. When I took the white flag, I had no expectation to win. That’s why I felt I had nothing to loose by trying something different. When I ran it in on the high side it felt like it stuck pretty good and I saw Tom slow a little. As I came off of four side by side with him, I knew I had a chance and I knew I got him by a couple feet when we crossed the finish line. I got really lucky tonight, but I also think that you make your own luck. Our hard work pays off by putting us in the position to take advantage when the opportunity arises. Tom’s a good friend and a hell of a driver, it means more when you win against someone of that caliber.” Sizemore said.

This win completed the first leg of the point championship as the 20 team takes a commanding lead in the points.

June 13, 2007- Chris Sizemore and the Z-Ty Racing team featured in the Cherokee Tribune today in and article writen by Carten Cordell.  Read the Cherokee Tribune Feature on the race HERE

June 10, 2007- Due to the lack of cars at Rome Speedway on Sunday, the Super Bomber division’s race was canceled. The remainder of the Rome schedule, for the Super Bombers, will be evaluated and an announcement will be made soon.

June 9, 2007- Z-Ty Racing extends the streak to three in a row at Dixie with brand new sponsor, ALBA Consulting Services, on the car. The number 20 Of Chris Sizemore started outside of row four Saturday night but picked his way to the front in an exciting 15 lap feature. Spence Rackley and Randy Tatum started the race side by side on the front row. Tatum took the early lead over Rackley but lost it coming off of turn two, taking out the number 5 of Kenny Taylor. Rackley assumed the lead but another caution fell on the very next lap as Roy Patterson drove under the 77 of Joey Kendall, bouncing off the left front of the #77 and into the left rear of the #20 car, spinning Sizemore out in the middle of one and two.

“I believe I had made it up to about sixth when I got nailed by Patterson. I was already getting back in the gas when he hit me, so all I could do was just put it to the floor and hope it would come all the way around without getting hit again. I got lucky! Really lucky. I didn’t get hit again during the spin and my tire didn’t go flat where I got hit. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good, and tonight that was the case.” Sizemore said.

After the spin, Sizemore continued toward the front and made it to third behind Kendall before another caution fell. On the restart, Sizemore got a great run down the front stretch and was able to make the pass for second on the high side through one and two. Sizemore then set out for the leader. Sizemore reached Rackley but the 74 car seemed too strong for the 20 down the straight-aways. On lap 8, Sizemore changed his line entering one and made a hard charge off two and down the back stretch. The 20 was able to pull along side the 74 and out brake him entering turn three, taking the lead off of four. Sizemore then pulled away for the final 7 laps, taking the win over Spence Rackley and Joey Kendall.

June 2, 2007- Sizemore makes it two in a row and three out of four at Dixie Speedway to open the 2007 points season.   Most of the regular visitors to the Dixie Speedway victory lane started mid pack to the back of the pack for Saturday night’s feature race. Chris Sizemore started third row outside followed by Tom Cleghorn in row four and Randy McConnell in row five. As they waved the green to start the race the 20 car made a quick charge to the front diving under the 57 of Robert Killian through turns one and two. On the second lap, Sizemore stuck to the rear bumper of Kenny Taylor through one and two as they both slid by the 77 of Joey Kendall but Sizemore decided to make his move on the 5 down the back straight away taking second place away from Taylor. Next he set out for the leader, Ben Hill. After two more laps Sizemore was able to drive in and make the pass on Hill through one and two, taking the lead for the first time on lap four. Sizemore maintained the lead through the final eleven laps despite a bonsai run by McConnell on the last lap entering turn three and coming to the checkered. Sizemore was able to hold off the charge by a half a car crossing the finish line. Sizemore and McConnell were followed by the 119 of Tom Cleghorn in third position.

“The track was really good tonight, which is something we are not used to. My car is best on a dry track and it pushed like a dump truck tonight. We are going to have to get the car better if we want to keep winning because McConnell is not going to sit back and be content with second. He doesn’t come out here to run second, he comes here to be the best.” Sizemore said.

May 28, 2007- Rome Speedway season opener cut short due to multiple cautions.  The season opener at Rome Speedway was cut short Sunday night due to the number of cautions and exceeding the time limit set for the race. Chris Sizemore started on the outside front row for the race opposite of Guy Adams and just in front of Randy McConnell and John Morrison. As the green waved to start the race, the 119 of Guy Adams pushed up the track and forced the 20 car out of the groove, opening the bottom for the M1 of McConnell and the 10 of Morrison to slide by for first and second. Through the many cautions Guy and Chris continued to battle for position as John Morrison spun by himself, taking him out of contention and moving Guy and Chris into the second and third position. As the green waved following another caution on lap 10, Guy pushed up the track in the center of 1 & 2 allowing Sizemore by for position. The yellow fell for the final time on lap 11 as the officials stopped the cars on the front straight away to clean up the 02 car of Mitchell Elzey that had flipped in turn 1. The race never returned to green and ended with a red and checkered flag. Randy McConnell won for the first time in four years at Rome and Sizemore’s 2 year Rome winless streak continues as he ran second.

“I have never seen a race end this way. I wish we could have at least seen a green-white-checkered finish; maybe I could have given Randy a fight. But it looked like he was too much for us tonight anyway. We are going to have to get a lot better before we come back here in two weeks, if we want to break our Rome winless streak.”, Sizemore said.

5-27 rome.jpg

May 19, 2007- Z-Ty Racing shows teams potential Saturday night as they host potential sponsor ALBA Consulting Services. Chris Sizemore and the number 20 team got lucky with another good draw Saturday night and started outside pole along side Tony McDowell in the number 21 car. Sizemore didn’t waste any time taking the lead as he pulled to the front off of turn two on the first lap. The race was not decided until the final laps though, as Randy McConnell in the M1 made a hard charge to the front and began challenging for the lead on lap ten. Through multiple cautions in the final laps, Sizemore was able to hold off the charge by running the high line on the track “There really wasn’t much of a groove anywhere except around the top. I knew when Randy made it to second, that is where he would want to be. I figured if I could maintain a smooth line up there and get a good bite off the corner, there wasn’t any way he was going to be able to get enough momentum to pass me off of the bottom.”, Sizemore said. “I really just got lucky to draw in the front on a night when the track was only going to have one groove and I was able to hold off the best out here.” Sizemore was followed by Kenny Taylor after McConnell broke on the final lap giving the Advance Power Systems team of Sizemore and Taylor the second one/two finish of the season.

May 5, 2007- 2006 Track Championship Team starts the 2007 season on top. The 2007 season started with a familiar scene from last years championship battle when Tom Cleghorn and Chris Sizemore started side by side on the front row of the points season opener in the Super Bomber division Saturday night. Tom and Chris proved before the green even fell that they were up for the battle as they bumped for real estate coming through turn three to start the race. "Tom wanted to move me up out of the groove to get a little better traction to take the green and I wasn't willing to get pushed up into the loose stuff at the top so we got together and came to a compromise", Sizemore said. As they took the green the two cars ran side by side all the way around the track for the first two laps until they came up on lap cars. As they went around the first lap car, Sizemore ran out of room and had to fall behind the 119 car but still stayed within striking distance. On lap four the Adam's Grading car driven by Cleghorn slowed down the front stretch and dropped out of the race. Sizemore then inherited the lead and stretched it to a commanding half a lap advantage. On lap ten, Kenny Taylor had made it second position from a starting spot at the back of the field when a caution came out caused when the 21 of Tony McDowell and the M1 of Randy McConnell made contact, ending Randy's night against the outside wall. When the cars and debris were cleaned and the green fell again it was back to business for the 20 car as he pulled away from Taylor for the victory followed by Randy Tatum in third. "I thought I was going to be able to make him work for it after the caution came out," Taylor said,"But I had a mechanical failure that prevented me from making much of a challenge at the end."

"I really wish I could have battled with Tom the entire race like we did the first couple laps but things happen in racing and I guess tonight was his time to have a little bad luck. But I would like to thank EMCO for their help this year. Tonight was the first night with them as the primary sponsor and they got it started in the right direction with this win. Hopefully we can keep it up and have another great season," Sizemore said.

April 21, 2007- A hard charge from the back fell a little short. Luck of the draw didn't go the way of the twenty Saturday night as a bad starting position made for a long trip to the front.

Sizemore started the race in the backof the field but through the many cautions in the race, made it to the front to challenge in the end. Kenny Taylor started on the outside pole opposite of the 119 of Tom Cleghorn and battled him and Randy Tatum for the top spot the entire 15 laps.  As the laps wound down, Sizemore was able to make it to the third position. He was able to run down the 5 of Taylor but came up a little short on the final lap of taking the runner up spot. Tom Cleghorn showed them the way to the checkered as Kenny Taylor ran second and Chris Sizemore finished third.

March 31, 2007- The mentor schooled the student again Saturday night in the Super Bomber race. The Super Bomber race proved to steal the spotlight Saturday night from the headliner World of Outlaws, as Randy McConnell and Chris Sizemore put on a show for 15 laps. Many in the grandstands said that it was the race of the night.

The beginning of the race looked as if the drivers were a little rusty from the winter break as a false start on the first attempt and a turn one spin from the pole sitter Joey Kendall on the second attempt shook up the field from their original starting positions. The first three rows of cars were taken out on the second attempt moving Sizemore from row four all the way to the inside pole. Randy McConnell went from the outside pole to the second row after it was determined that he fired too soon on the second attempt. When the race finally got underway on the third attempt, Sizemore jumped out to an early lead with McConnell getting by Johnny Morrison for second position. McConnell saw that his only chance to get to the lead was to do it on the high side as Sizemore was pinned to the bottom of the race track. Randy challenged the 20 in every corner but could not maintain the momentum down the straight-aways. Sizemore was able to maintain the lead through multiple cautions during the 15 lap feature until the last caution waived on lap 13. When the green flew for the final time, McConnell drove hard into turn one. Sizemore pushed up the track just enough to give the M1 McConnell Hauling Monte Carlo the position coming off turn two. The final lap saw Randy McConnell taking the checkers followed by Chris Sizemore and John Morrison.

“I learn a little every time I’m on the race track with Randy. Tonight I got another lesson. Hopefully soon I will be able to prove that I can apply these lessons and outrun the best racer out here”, Sizemore said after the race. “I have so much respect for him and his ability, it will mean a lot when I finally do beat him head to head”.
